Exploring and Expressing with Drawing and Painting
July 14 - July 27

This drawing and painting class is for individuals at intermediate and advanced level. In this workshop course, students will have the opportunity to combine working from direct observation around the stunning Assisi landscape, which will later be developed into studio assignments. The class time will be focused on landscape, the figure, architecture and still life within the content of the charming medieval comune. Assignments will combine perceptual observation while exploring drawing and painting’s materiality.

Paintings and drawings developed from the surrounding region will be used for the exploration of the individual’s artistic expressions within the studio assignments. Composition, surface, texture, and color will be explored and come together in several works to define the individual’s form of expression. The formal attributes of image making will be researched and serve as a vocabulary for the individual’s form of expression while pushing the boundaries to abstraction. Class time will be spent drawing and painting while being provided with group and individual discussions to gauge one’s exploration and inquiry.
